Innovations are just another way to say, “hey, we just figured out a way to make you even more lazier,” which is pretty fine with me and a lot of other people, to be honest. However, once we get to a point where we don’t even want to tie our own shoes – mama we made it! You thought I was going to say, “we should be ashamed of ourselves?” Hell no. Although kids may never experience the joy we felt when we finally learned how to tie our own shoes, we can’t forget the times where we tripped over our laces or got them stuck in the chain on our bikes (do they still make bikes with chains or am I really getting old?) We also can’t forgot how annoying laces can be – from trying to tie them in a way that looks cool, to not tying them at all to look cool, to always having to fix them because you either did one or the other – to look cool, laces should definitely be a thing of the past. Not to mention, the self-lace shoes look pretty sweet! Of course, the gif could be exaggerating the entire process but hey, I’m sold.
Nike’s self-lacing sneakers will be available on November 28, 2016. However, they come with a “high price tag” and will only be available at “select Nike retail locations” – appointment only. If you do get lucky enough to purchase a pair, be ready to charge your new HyperAdapts. The battery will take three hours to become fully charged but will last you two weeks. Also, don’t worry – you’ll be able to adjust the laces at the touch of a button, or two.
Would you wear a pair of HyperAdapts?
