The 90s changed NYFW forever. Anna Wintour picked lumps of ceiling plaster out of Suzy Menkes’ hair; models stepped over plaster on the runway; Kors thought he’d heard gunfire at his show. But turns out, it was the ceiling caving in! That was enough to convince Fern Mallis to organize. Just like that, gone were the days of 50 shows and 50 locations. New York Fashion Week has evolved tremendously since the 90s but lets take a second to remember where we came from.
